All my fish are DEAD!

I went to college 3 weeks ago and left my local pet store to move my tank to my dads office. They kept assuring me that I didn’t need to move it and that nothing would go wrong. I kept asking my dad about the tank and he was being conspicuous about it. I came home for Labor Day and my dad said my fish died after a day of being moved. Turns out that they used citric acid and screwed UP my tank. I am LIVID! They said they would replace everything in my tank, but I loved those fish what should I do? I wanna make them pay for a new tank because of the emotional connection.

It depends how far you want to take it. Ask them what they will do to make it right. If you're not satisfied with their offer, take them to small claims court.

They said the syphen wasn’t washed and they used it around the back of my tank to break down salt

I was confused for a second, thought you were angry at your parents lol. I mean.. just get as much as possible from them. Put them out of business not like they deserve to be running a lfs when they can't be trusted with fish heh

It sucks having pets that you care about die. However, it was a honest mistake on the stores part so them willingly replacing all livestock that was lost seems fair to me.
I can’t imagine any lfs would be willing to give you a new tank and equipment after they make you whole by replacing everything they killed.

I am not sure if you are just wanting the store to give you a bunch of free equipment because you’re currently upset or if you are just trying to take advantage of the situation, but either way I wouldn’t get your hopes up for a new setup.

Seems to me you did the responsible thing. It's not like you hired Josh from home depot with an '80's pickup truck to move it. Those guys are sposed to be trained fishy professionals

Sorry about ur tank and fish.. i would be mad too. If you plan on doing business with them in the future, give them a chance. Never burn bridges, u might have to go back that way one day..

Why would you say it’s my responsibility if I hired them and was away? They assured me multiple times I wouldn’t need to do it my self. By saying it was my fault really makes me feel like sh$t
