just wanted to start by saying that Neptune Systems support is amazing, but I wanted to share my situation to see if anybody as any input.

one day I arrive home and everything is turned off in my tank, i checked everything and my first thought was that the Base unit (new model) died and everything was powering from there, I received a new base unit today, it started working immediately but everything else is dead (DOS, AFS, ENERGY BAR AND DISPLAY). I tried connecting to different energy bars, also direct to the wall outlet within result. Im sending everything over to Neptune to check whats up.

Any thoughts?

Power surge from a lightning strike?

everything has surge protection... but could be!

So did my stuff but we took a hit very close by and (i assume) the surge protector could not “react”Fast enough and some things got fried.

surprisingly all other devices (skimmer, pumps, lights) are ok, only the Neptune ones were affected

Fyi.... it's not when the AC power goes out that Electronics fry....but when power is restored.

When the Utility company turns to AC back on.....there is sometimes a 600volt surge that comes down the line instead of 120v

Best practices would be if you get an Alarm text saying your Apex system lost power, best to call everyone who's home to UNPLUG the Apex until after the electric comes back on. Or drive home and unplug yourself.

You can also connect the Apex to a surge protector or even better a UPS. Mine is connected to a CyberPower 1500 which has good inbuilt protection for power surges as well as giving me short term battery backup.
