Allons-y!!

Ok, I'm going to try to start updating this more often. Acquired some new corals, rearranged the scape, and had some setbacks...

Mount cyphastrea is no more :(. Not sure what caused it but it RTN'ed a few months ago. I do have a small frag that I've glued to my overflow box... Hopefully it will survive. This is during the decline.

My blennies covered the plate with sand - repeatedly - and it looks awful. I know these corals can come back or make babies so I'm trying to keep the algae off in hopes it recovers; not very optimistic though. Still puffs up at night.

The larger red chalice that I fragged this summer is also looking a little rough. It's the type with a thin skeleton and it's easy to damage it when handling. I had to move it a few times and then one of my BTAs decided to attach itself to the back of the chalice, and removing that caused more damage. It's getting better though.

New corals are more duncans (2 colonies), a couple hammers, and more frog/octospawn. I also got a scoly, fox coral, and a brain.

Love the fox and the brain, can't wait to see those grow out.

Oh, for crying out loud! Looked over at the tank and it's all cloudy. D@#m brittle stars are spawning again! No idea what triggered it!
Was one of them showing a little leg?

I'll see myself out...

So sorry about your Cyphastrea. That was truely beautiful. Glad you were able to frag it. Love the new additions. Time to punish your blennies. Hope all is well. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, watching the cyphastrea rock die was horrible. The small pieces were actually from another colony that I fragged last year. Glad I decided to keep a few!

So, I'm not sure what's going on with my tank... Most things are happy (the scoly was very happy earlier - emitting puffs of "smoke"), but my blasto has either been picked on by something or has polyp bailout...

what do you have that may be picking ?
other lps in tank ?
do you know your alk and cal ?
Lots of LPS, and this one has been with me over a year. Afaik, none of my fish bother the corals, and I don't have crabs or shrimp. I'll have to watch to see if anyone's getting nippy.
Last time I checked (over the weekend), alk was 8 and cal was 430... Pretty typical for me. I'll have to test again tomorrow. I normally don't worry if a coral is retracted, since so many things can cause this to happen temporarily, but this one's falling apart :(

Updates:
The blasto still looks crummy, but it's not dead yet.

A few other corals are receding a little so I'm upping my water changes and testing... I think the summer of neglect is catching up with me :(

Don't be hard on yourself. We all have life stuff that pulls us away from time to time. I've ignored one too many vermetid snails in biocube and now I'm deciding whether or not I want to tear everything out. .

Finally. Went thru the thread just now. Love the tank. Sorry to hear about the Cyphastrea and Blastos. I love both, but they don’t love me apparently. I’ve never been able to keep either alive for long..
