Allowable Overhangs For Glass?

So I am wondering if a 3" overhang is too much for 8mm low iron glass? The issue is the stand is 30" long and the tank would be 36"x 12"x 12" so it would have a 3" overhang on each end.

Why not build a new stand. Personally I wouldn’t chance it

Lay a piece of 36 x12 plywood over the top, or build a new stand. I wouldn’t risk free hanging glass.
