I returned home last night and looked under my tank for a routine check...water was ALL over the place...splashing out of the skimmer collection cup...my electrical outlets were sitting in about a quarter inch of water and I have no idea how electricity did not get transmitted to the water...any idea why my skimmer would start running "wet" like that..?? I was running fine for a couple weeks....then all of a sudden it's blowing water out of the top??...is there anything I can do to prevent an overflow like this in the future??...thanks in advance.

Not sure how your skimmer was configured but mine, when it overflows, it just overflows back into the sump and doesn't cause any major problems like this. Is there a way you can configure it to not overflow outside of the aquarium?

Typically the skimmer overflows due to some chemical getting into the system, like when I use epoxy putty. Or it happens if water level changes.

Thanks Logzor...I have a big skimmer (reef octopus NW-200)...and it takes up alot of space in my sump...maybe I should have gotten a smaller skimmer so that I could center it more and avoid this problem...it is so tight in there, that I can't move it away from the egde of the sump :-/
