Whoa almost cooked by fish and coral today!! I was at work and got an heat alert, assumed my heater faulted or my APEX plug was stuck on the "on" position, but noticed the watts from the heater outlet were zero! Made it home and saw my Vectra L2 return pump (which is less than 1yr old) was not putting out much flow and felt a little warm! Check out the temp graph from my apex with that trajectory everything would have been toast in no time! Thankfully I had a backup return pump and intervened with the temp only getting up to 80.5F, but if I didn't have a wifi enabled monitors, geez I would have had a mass casualty event for sure. After I swapped out the pumps the temp has stabilized whew...

Really just wanted to share my story to advocate for a backup parts and remote monitoring! Those 100% saved my tank.

Good save! I am monitoring a similar situation with elevated average temps myself.
Thanks, I wonder how often these pumps overheat like that…I had some weird intermittent increased temp readings for the past week and now I know it must have been that pump failing. I wonder if I had hooked up my vectra return to to an apex outlet I might have noticed if the power draw had increased ….
