There's definitely hope, all of the non white stuff is alive.

I'd recommend cutting the dead part/live part and gluing it elsewhere. It would be better for someone else to weigh in on this though.

Bleached base is usually a problem with phosphates, what are your parameters?

He got buried in the sand where it was bleached out. I didn’t notice it until when I was cleaning my tank today. Pulled him out and put him on the frag holder :(. I just did a water change.

I’d cut it above the white and re frag it. It might grow back over the white but it might not.

I’m not sure how to do this. What do I need? I’ve only been in this for about a year and 2 months

I would just leave it. IME the bleached/dead area is the same as a rock, so after loss from cutting and loss from gluing you end up doing more harm than good by cutting it away.
I think I feel better just leaving it alone than cutting it. I need some experience doing this

You would want to cut with bone cutters. Kinda like a scissor.. for bone lol.

Then you just clip it slightly below where you'd want to cut it. It's not hard, but it's not precise either and it usually crumbles a little.

Good point. Just leave it. There’s a good chance it’ll grow back over the white areas.

For frags that do this I always cut it right before the death so it’s not disturbed and then make sure to stick it in the glue enough to cover the healthy areas.
