ALPHA 250 skimmer

Ok ....i just about ready to throw this piece of crap out the window......i have a Vertex Alpha 250 skimmer in my sump on a 200 gallon cube..... I have never been able to get it adjusted....i have tried everything from differant depths ,adjusting the valute...nothing seems to work....it will run really good for a day or two then it will overflow and shut off.....oh by the way i have it hooked up to a skimmate locker to shut the skimmer off when it overflows... I am so tired of this thing......it either overflows or it runs so low that it dont put any skimmate in the cup...... I had a bubble magus on my old set up that worked flawlessly......i can't figure out for the life of me why these pieces of crap cost so much when my Bubble Magus was 10 times the skimmer this thing is......anybody have any ideas why this thing wont skim like it is suppost to ? Or should i just save the neck cleaner and take a hammer to the rest.......cause i am really getting tired of my nutrients bouncing around like a rubber ball in my tank.....

Have you tried running it in 7" water level, white nozzle turned out 1 turn and close the wedge pipe until the water level is at the top of the body where the cup screws in?

Havent tried that shallow.......might have to try that....but manufacture says 9-11

When I ran the 200 I was at 7&8 inches. Try 8 first.
