Alright this is starting to P me off

I've contact neptune about this before and I've seen others mention this on the forum.. Neptune's response is unsatisfactory, which is basically like oh its just because it's testing when you dose, or oh your average is 8.77 you have it set to 8.75.

So I actually got irritated enough that I made a really complex dosing schedule just to make sure dosing is not happening when testing. The spikes relaxed alot, but sometimes I'd get them. Not good enough, so I contacted neptune, they got up in arms because my schedule was too complex and they made me just use the dosing task..

And now, I get spikes and dips all over the place. Almost every single GD test is some type of swing. They aren't huge but it's irritating as F. Why do I feel like even though they aren't big, there being MAYBE so many it's a problem and not stable. Sometimes I'll manually make the trident test again right after one of those spikes and the alk is fine. But recently it's coming back some of them are actually a spike.

How does the trident change the dose? In other words, does it increase or decrease right after a test? Or does it take the previous days test see the trend and make a change? Neptune doesn't really make it clear how it does it besides it tests and changes it...

Also I'm testing 8x a day. Neptune is like well that will make it bounce around more. I'm like....if the trident is so good, wouldn't more tests making it's dosing more accurate? I feel like I'm getting lame excuses and promises from Neptune that just aren't being met. Month 4 on a promise they made me, that they haven't made good on and won't respond to me asking about it even though they told me to ask about it... Sorry, about the rant just irritated with Neptune in more ways than one.

If you have one, post your testing results, so I can see what other people's results look like as well. It might help me relax.

Yep, this is exactly my point. 3 tests in an hour and I see

8.95 , 8.9, and 8.67

If the trident is controlling the dos, why doesn't it just make sure it doesn't interfere with testing.. And if it sees a spike or dip, it makes itself adjust for no reason....

If your test line is in the sump, try putting it in a section before the dosing lines. This cleared things up for me, I put my test line into the fuge and my dosing lines into the return area.
I don't think its reasonable to expect less than a .2-.3 swing nor do I see an issue with that.

OK understood. I don't mind the .2 -3 swing tbh. It's just the frequency and what it might do when the DOS is controlled by the trident and the trident doesn't know that it's catching it's own dosing.

The test line is in the crash box and the dose lines are in the skimmer chamber downstream.

Do you have any other ideas that may help? I appreciate your answer

No other real suggestions unfortunately, mine swings 8.6-8.8 every day and night, my dosing schedule is set for 0-24 hours, so it adds a little every 10 mins 24 hours a day.

I'm curious of what alk looks like for the more well-known vendors. What their swings look like and what they tolerate. I'm sure they have apex as well. Not sure who to link to ask this question to that's on these forums lol

I sell anemones commercially to a woman who owns one and runs them on all her tanks, next time I see her ill look at her alk and let you know (though it will be a few weeks)

Has anything changed since your post with Trident?
