Alternative filter

Is there an alternative to a hob? I have a 37 gallon tall tank and it has a rim. There is a uv and a wave maker. The tank is pretty basic.

The alternative to a hob filter is a canister filter.

Tall tanks can be a challenge to oxyginate, a skimmer will help, or you can point a powerhead at the surface to ensure surface agitation.

There are HOB filters like the Tidals or Aquaclears and there are HOB skimmers, or canister filters, or you can set up a sump with a bit more effort.
