Hi everyone, I am currently using an ASM G-3 skimmer with the original Sedra 5000 and have a feeling it might be on its way out. I have had nothing but great success with this skimmer/pump but was wondering if there were any other pumps that would work similar to the Sedra 5000 and with the ASM G-3 skimmer but run quieter?

More energy efficient wouldn't be bad either but I would think if the pump runs cooler my heater would run more anyway. Is there anything quiet that would work just as well as the Sedra on this skimmer?

I am just not sure as far as air intake what will be comparable and hoping someone has experience with this.

Thanks!

Yea, I think I am actually going to stick with the sedra now that you said that because I have heard that before as well.

Thanks for your input

I personally think that most of the good needlewheels just got lucky in their combos, so stick with their combos when you have a good one. There is no other way to explain why some are so good and some are so bad, even from the same company. The ASM and EuroReef skimmers are still really good and in the top ten percent, IMO, where only a bubble king or other red-dragon powered skimmer can really beat them and just a few others as as good. As long as they made the Sedra, just keep using it. I have a RO skimmer with a Sicce PSK that is a beast, but then tried one with a DC pump and a bubble blaster and they both sucked really bad. They all talk about technology and precision and all of this, but I think that it is mostly luck.
