I'm thinking about not doing QT and going to the hydroplex fish dip. I'm really new to this and just wondered what everyone's thoughts on this product was.

Here is an article detailing quarantine practices. Anything short comes with no guarantees. Alternately you could get your fish from a place like drreefsquarantinedfish.com

I use Hydroplex as a step to quarantine following Jay Hemdal's procedures. I have also found it effective as a dip treating parasites. Strongly encourage you to go the 30 day plus quarantine route. Once you lose a few fish or a whole tank to a bug, you will really regret taking a chance.

I have never quarantine so far, nor dipped or anything. and have not had problems with disease. I do not want to give my fish any unnecessary pills. Though I have not done it yet, observation for about 3 weeks is probably a good alternative.

I believe @Paul B runs a tank stocked with fish that have never been quarantined. He presents a well laid out plan on how this is done.
