So on my new build I wanted to use a alternative method of using filter socks , in this case filter floss or nothing. Figured hey I have a Intank media basket why don't I use that and have the drain line run right threw it, this prevents me from using socks and a reactor and the only way water can run is down and threw it. Worked perfectly, so just wanted to throw this out there for people looking of a alternative. I didn't even have to secure it at all either !

That's a great repurposing of that intank basket. I did a similar design on my sump for my previous 120g tank. I made an acrylic chamber with a 90 elbow at the bottom to collect only the bottom most layer of water where there was little microbubbles. I filled my chamber with rubble as well. I could pull up the whole unit during a water change to rinse any detritus if needed, but I found I only ended up needing to do that once a year.

If I redesigned it I would make a push fitting on the top for the plumbing to fit into so there's no splash back at the top. I appreciated being able to get rid of the filter socks since my main concern was microbubbles anyways.

Great idea its what i do pretty much too. Just use felt instead. This way i can wash it down and reusue it.
