going to be doing a DYI sump. 40 breeder and wondering what everyone does as an alternative to filter socks. Hoping for alot of replies on this one since there's alot of DYI's on here. I was thinking same concept as my lifereef sump and refugium. but change it up a little bit.

They make rollers that automatically move rolls of filters so you don’t have to change socks. You could something like that.

Or you could go sockless, it’s not mandatory to run one.

Coral Vue has the klirs which fit into standard 4" & 7" sock filter holes and is a roll up style fleece filter. I've had a really great experience with these so far. There are a few other styles out there as well by other companies.

I use two Aquamesh (coarse and fine) pads. I throw a filter pad in there too on occasion.

you should look into filter floss cups.

Media cups and put some polifil in it and call it a day. You will never miss your socks again except for when it snows lol.
