So I have two overflow boxes that use tom aqualifter pumps, but I am tired of cleaning them and replacing them as after sometime they dont function well even with vinegar cleaning.

Any other practical alternatives you guys know about? Can I use this Rio pump placed in the sump extend an airline tubing from its venturi upwards to the overflow boxes?

Thanks

Yes, something like that should work better than an aqualifter. Or just replace your return pump with one that can take an airline like that one. There's really no need to run 2 pumps

Get a Lifereef overflow box & forget all your worries.
The ONLY THING is enough flow through the tube (s) to pull any air bubbles completely out of the tube (s) & you will never have a problem.

Will see. I have two identical waveline returns and took me a lot to hard plumb them. So that rules out the return pump option. Thanks a lot

Thanks but lifereef is the same design as eshopps, right?
So here is the caveat. My primary overflow is cpr with one aqualifter pump, that handles like 80% of the flow. The second one is an eshopps and has an aqualifter as well, but this one has a trickle flow that I change its filter socks like one a month. The idea is if cpr fails, the eshopps has the siphon capabilities to handle all the flow going through the sump, cool right? Lol
So getting the one you recommend implies it will need full flow making me loose the redundancy with the extra one, makes sense?

Maybe as a wavemaker/powerhead instead of a return?
Yes thanks this is similar to the rio. I just hate the noise with maxijets. I have two but looking for something quiter. I can get a rio and tee the airline tubing to make it serve the two overflow boxes. And added bonus is provide flow in the sump to help with detritus

Did this ever get answered?

My AquaLifter just died. I had a spare, which is now hooked up, but they're not on the market anymore it looks like.

The new CPR overflows some with some other pump, but I can't find that for sale without the overflow.
