My tank is 12mm glass 24" wide x 24" high x 60" long double bottom and euro braced top and bottom. 36mm thick bottom. Have been told that I need 1 1/4" alum bracing on all corners. Crazy OR on the safe side???

I would add them. That is going to be heavy.

No one ever said “crap I was too cautious in this hobby but MANY have regretted not doing enough!

Aluminum bracing added to a glass tank? I mean, I'm still fairly new to this hobby (1987 to present ;) ) but I have NEVER heard that advice given.

I assumed they meant the stand.

If that's a metal stand and welded properly then no.

People talk about racking sideways but no .... steel is seriously strong
No my friend was talking about the corner glass. Outside corners. The stand is 1 1/2" steel. It's the 12mm glass he says is not thick enough
