Just added a Brightwell Aquatics NO3 plate to my 5 gal refugium that supports my 20 gal Red Sea Max Nano tank. Before adding to my refugium, i had soaked the plate overnight (in a metal canning pot...which is made of aluminum). After 20min in the tank, my anenomies, hammers and other corals retracted. Then i observed a film coming out of the N03 plate, which i assume was the materials sucked up overnight from the salt water and aluminum pot reaction. I removed the plate and did a 30% water change. I added a small bag of GFO and red sea carbon. Is my whole system doomed now? Can my corals survive? Will my clown fish survive? What should i do next?? -much thanks.

Oh and welcome to the club lucy, hopefully we can get your tank sorted out

Looking much better now after the water change and filter media. I will do another water change in a couple of days. Thanks for the welcome and comments!
