Is my alveopora dead, it went into the tank 6 days ago was fully open at my LFS....my parameters are prefect for a reef tank...all my other coral are doing great....lighting 2 - AI prime HD, AI hydra 26

These guys don't ship the best or handle temperature fluctuations well. They also tend to do a lot better in established tanks (not sure how new your build is or if that had any correlation).

This guy is definitely gone though.

My guess is this guy was going downhill prior to your purchase though.

Haha, I was going to say... I found your problem!

When you look at the individual corallites, do you see any fleshy areas?

So my experiences with gonios and alveoporas have been similar. It seems they like medium low to low flow. I accidentally unplug the flow once and they had huge polyp extension. Also, they tend to do better with low lighting and nutrient rich water. Mine seem to bleach always when closer to top. I have fed them every other day with oyster feast and powdered plankton.

One thing I have noticed is that they seem to go downhill when their membrane breaks. This is the membrane that covers the space between the polyps. I have never had any recovered from this.

This is not uncommon. Unfortunately, these corals are very delicate and they don't adapt well, but they are solid, once established. I have had both species (Gonis and Alveoporas) and I can only tell you my personal experience.
  1. They do well on high nutrient tanks
  2. They like medium to high flow
  3. They don't like too much light
You can use the guide attached to see what the experts recommend, as far as placement of various corals.

These were mine before I sold the tank.

OMG! I want that neon green one!

Definitely dead.

Just to add to the collective knowledge here.

My gonis are doing great with 250-300 par, high flow, and low phosphates <0.03 ppm but nitrates around 12-16 ppm.
