Alveopora growing outwards?

Recently notice this growth (dark green area) for my alveopora. At first, I thought they were algae and tried brushing it off. However, the green stuff is very hard. Is the skeleton growing outwards as the green area looks like extending outwards in a honeycomb manner

The polys in the dark green are still alive though.
