Hello everyone I have a Alveopora I've had for about a week now I noticed this mucus when I first got it but figured It was just gunk from frozen foods I had feed but today when it was closed up I decided to wipe it away now it has excreted even more reaching out a good 6"-7"

Does anyone know what it is and why it is doing it?

Btw the coral does have 2 dead spots on it, it was this way when I bought it but the rest of the coral opens up just fine.

A possibly better food choice for a young lps like that might be reef roids instead of frozen meats. What other corals are in your tank?
Not much I'm new to the hobby and it's a young tank. A Ducan, Ricordea yuma, Toadstool leather, Candy cane, Cespitularia and Bowerbanki.

Honestly my best guess through watching the coral is it seems like a sort of mucus net grabbing food out of the water column but I could be wrong.

Alveopora have sweeper tentacles but that would seem rather long for such a small coral.
