Am I adding fuel to the fire?

I personally would not ever add any chemical, supplement, enhancer, dehancer, or anything in a bottle, can, box or bag except calcium and alk.

I do have a DIY algae skimmer because I actually want algae as it is the best water conditioner there is.
I also don't want it growing on my corals
