Am I correct that this is a feather duster?

Sorry, I'm new. Looks like it has a tube and looks like a feather duster to me but I currently know next to nothing so thanks for looking.

Quick follow up. Do feather dusters move on their own? Or did one of my CUC members (3 nassarius, 3 trochus, 1 emerald crab, 1 skunk cleaner, 2 scarlet hermits) also in this QT move it/eat it? The tubes seemed to be stuck to the frag when I checked them back when I posted the thread but now the tubes are gone from the frag and I'm not seeing them anywhere.

Yes. They do get eaten.

One of my crabs loved to nibble on the shell of one of my large mussels.

I can send you some!

I appreciate the offer. Right now I'm just trying to get this initial group of CUC and a few in-expensive "easy, beginner" frags, mostly LPS (hammer, blasto, favia, etc.) and then 1 zoa, and 1 paly through the 76 days fishless QT. Oh, and some chaeto. We'll see what I can keep alive from this group before I go adding anything else. 76 days from the last added item is already almost Christmas. Everything in this hobby takes a lot longer than I envisioned. I started prepping for this back in July and my DT is still waiting for it's first resident be it invert or fish.

Yeah, I see that and understand it and am following it to the best of my ability which is why I now have 3 tanks, my display, a coral invert QT with 12/20 as the 76 day finish line, and a fish QT with 2 clowns and 1 fuzzy dwarf lion. Does make it a bit frustrating, I started building in July/August and the display still just looks like this:

And I have to look at the fish in a small tank with only some PVC pieces as decoration while I look at this empty ;) At least with the coral/invert QT I followed this guide https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/how-to-quarantine-coral-and-inverts.228/ and it's at least more interesting to look at with some frags and sand and such.

12/20 is my birthday haha

You'll be filling that tank up with corals and fish in no time, don't let a little waiting discourage you. It's like how kids in middle school want to be high schoolers and high schoolers want to graduate. By the time they are adults, a good chunk of life has gone by and they wonder if all that time wishing and hurrying it along could have been spent enjoying it.

The same thing happens with reeftanks, by the time its filled up and you can't do anything but look at it, you'll get the itch to set something new up again haha

You're definitely doing things the right way, and your patience will pay off ten-fold!

What happens when you quarantine your livestock for six months and after waiting patiently, add the first fish to your DT. Then a few weeks later your fish get ICK anyway.

If that's a question for me then I guess they go back into the QT tank for treatment and the display stays fishless for 76 days.
