I just picked up a new tank 36" long, roughly 8" tall. The light fixture that is came with is a 36" 192 Watt PC fixture. 1 96 watt white bulb, havent looked at the kelvin rating. The other bulb is a 96 watt actinic. I am most likely going to attempt a frag tank in the future but dont think Ill use those bulbs. I plan on getting a 50/50 96 watt bulb and placing that in one of the slots. If I can fit the other actinic bulb into the other slot along with the 50/50 I plan on doing that, what do you all think?

It would equate to 48 watts 14K, and 144 watts actinic. Too much actinic?

Persoanlly I would get rid of PC lighting altogether......Go with T-5 retro kit like a 4 bulb would be perfect much better color choices, corals color will be much nicer....I had a 96w PC lamp and was never happy with it bulbs didn't last that long always seemed to need replacing, got real hot and the corals never seemed to thrive under it.....JMHO

I'm a huge fan of T5's, its all I have used in any of my tanks. So Ill probably see how the PC's do for a few months and save up for an upgrade. With this tank being so shallow I think the PC's will do its job for the most part.

Will the extreme actinic supplement have any effect on the coral besides the extra blue?
i would just run dual 50/50s
That is a good idea if the tank would be deeper but being only 8" deep I'd have to say the algae would grow uncontrollably.
