its been 3 weeks already since i set up my new tank.
I have a 14 gallon nuvo tank with icekap skimmer.
I started my water with live sand and 14 gallons of live seawater with bacteria.
The shop owner said it was ok for me put fish next day so i did and few days later i added few snails as well.
He said there will be no problem since i used live sand and seawater for enough bacteria but on 14th day i lost my two clown fish.
They wasnt really eating well and not active most of the time. I also saw white poop, later i realized it was an internal bacteria infection. I treated with metroplex and focus but i still failed to keep them from parasite. After reading and googling adding a fish right away even with live sand and seawater is not the proper way to get water cycled and also fish with parasite is very contagious. I feel like either the wrong water cycle or parasite has killed them but not really sure what caused them to die. So assuming the reason was due to parasite i added cleanser shrimp goby and clown fish. The cleanser shrimp and goby is very active and eats everything i feed them(always stays in one spot) but clown fish is not as active and wont eat anything other than mysis shrimp. He always stays in one spot and wont really eat well just like my other clown fish did.Its been three days since i introduced in a tank, but it seems like hes still not comfortable. I spent so much time and spend already over 800 in my aquarium but im not getting the result i want. I dont know whats wrong with my fish tank please give me an advice and help me out.

p.s.

My water temperature is around 79-80 most of the time checked ph,nitrate,kh,gh, salinity and it all came good.

Thank you.

Clownfish are notorious for having internal parasites, worms. Clearly internal parasites cannot be addressed with cleaner shrimp. The stringy white poop can be caused by many things. Stress alone can cause stringy poop. It’s not uncommon for fish stores to encourage customers to speed up the biological cycle. You have some fish that are doing fine. That’s a good sign but don’t add anymore fish at this point. If you notice snails dying get them out ASAP as they will quickly increase nitrates. You have a nano tank so as I’m sure you’re aware the water chemistry can change very quickly. If your fish presently only eats mysis, that’s great! Just feed mysis but don’t make the mistake of adding too much mysis in the attempts of seeing the fish eat. I’ve also used products like garlic extreme added to the frozen fish food to increase fishes appetite. Garlic is also anti-parasitic. I’m sure you’ll rock this hobby just be patient.

All of them seems to be doing great but clown fish seems to be acting little weird. Always in the corner or at the bottom of sand not really swimming that much. If theres something wrong with my cycle, can i add few drops nitrifying bacteria? I used skimmer first day of setting my my tank and put fish the next day, im just concerned there isnt enough bacteria in the tank. Thank u so much for reply.

In my experience if there wasn’t enough bacteria in the water your tank would likely spin back into the ammonia and then nitrite and nitrate cycle. This would most likely kill all your fish. With all the fish doing fine except possibly the clownfish I wouldn’t stress about the tank nose diving but I would highly suggest not adding another fish etc. my clownfish will often lay down on the bottom of the tank and just kick back. However, when it’s time to eat he’s voracious. Is your clownfish eating?

I checked today and clownfish lay down on bottom and doesnt really swim much. It wont eat any other food other than mysis shrimp. He only goes for mysis shrimp so picky eater. I also thought my pump was creating too much wave for him so i bought some kind of adapter to control its water pump but now water wave is so weak and its making noisy sound the point i cant sleep.

If he’s eating chances are he’ll be ok. Maybe just relax and enjoy your tank as it sounds like it’s causing you stress. Sometimes the best thing to do is just keep your hands off of the tank and let it balance out. I know that can be difficult at first as you’ve invested a fair amount of money into this tank and you want to make sure you succeed. You’ll succeed as you’re very attentive! You’ll burn out if you can’t take time to just enjoy it!

Stinks that the lfs is more worried about sales than keeping fish alive. Bacteria starter or not you should wait till your cycled up. I hope all works out. This is a strange hobby, quality stuff comes from living rooms not stores lol

Fish cycles are not the rule to go buy anymore. A good lfs should tell u know and test your water to show you why no fish should be in the system. 800 in your system.

BUY A TEST KIT.

Watch one of thousands videos on how to cycle a tank. this hobby is a game of patients. Good tanks come in time not with chemicals. With that said I do use stability but as a aid not a fix all or instant start to a tank. Good luck. I hope your fish make it but I’d return him to the store. My store sent me out before I got my clowns over a year later not selling me a $50 clown pair one day lead to me spending at least 3k there and feel quilt shopping anywhere else because of the service I get. Even if I pay more.

LFS did you wrong and if that is the advise they have begun you with, I would seriously consider a different shop=- One you can trust and leave with confidence even if it means added driving time or a little higher pricing for quality

The first time I went to by coral the guy asked me 1000 ?. When he was done he brought me to the softy tank and said this is for you. Im like bro tjats not the jf stuff I came for. He litteraly refused to sell me the good stuff until I was ready. He is now my prefered shopping destination. Nothing will help you more than buying fish or coral from someone that likea them more than money
