Am I going to die?

when I got into the hobby I looked at worst case scenario some corals / zoas and palyzoas do have a strong toxin that if Introduced to the blood steam can be really bad, it's called palytoxin. Not saying at all this is what you could have. signs are rapid heart rate coughing metal taste in mouth head ache. I only bring it up because before I ever set up my tank I wanted to know what to look out for. Never cook or boil rocks! I'm not medical anything just someone who research's things heavily and is overly cautious. Most likely you got stung by worm.

If your wife has rashes on her hands too....

Need to figure out what you two have done in common:

What did you two eat?
Anything in the house that has changed the air quality?
Anything you both have handled?

If there is no:
* breathing difficulties
* rapid heart rate
....I would think its just a mild discomfort allergic reaction.

If its s e r I o u s.... your heart and lungs will tell you.

I wouldnt be that concerned and follow the advice of others about topical relief products.

Hello, I am a family medicine physician. I need to correct one piece of advice what was given. Anti-inflammatories such as Motrin, Aleve, Advil, ibuprofen, etc. should NOT be taken when having hives or urticaria. Yes, these medications modulate the immune system, reduce inflammation, and are good for pain or fever. However, there are many parts to the immune system and these medications may trigger an INCREASE in hives or urticaria. (I can not confirm hives or urticaria from the picture. I am only commenting on the treatment of hives or urticaria.)
Regarding first aid for common stings. Poisons are proteins and when proteins are denatured they are neutralized. Some proteins are sensitive to heat and others sensitive to changes in pH. Typically poisons from fish (lion fish, rockfish, sting rays) are heat sensitive. The treatment is to soak the affected area in hot water (hot, but not to the point of burning the flesh). Poison from cnidarians (corals, jelly fish, anemones) and bristle worms is pH sensitive. The best treatment is not heat, but soaking the affected area in vinegar or ammonia. Vinegar is my preferred agent as ammonia is poisonous to breath.

Firefighter/EMT here, I agree with everything Vetteguy said. Id also take some Benadryl to help. If you do start seeing a red line then you will need to go to your doctor for medication. Any signs of breathing difficulty, have someone drive you or call an ambulance to get you to the hospital.
Doesn't the red line mean sepsis, or can it mean something else?

A red streak going up the arm is usually a sign of a Streptococcus bacteria. (This happened to me when I stuck my finger on a long-spine sea urchin. I ended up in the emergency room with uncontrollable shivers).

Well now I’m worried, you and the wife ok? Did you ever figure it out? You’re not dead right?

Sepsis is a form of it. Its more of a severe case . The redline is basically blood poisoning. Its when bacteria gets into your blood stream.
Ah that makes sense. My mom has a premed degree and when I was younger if I got a messed up toe or something she would make sure it didn't have a red line.

He had to work its Monday.
So we be talking a different death.

Looks like what happens to me anytime I touch a bristleworm. It goes down within 24 hours usually for me, but often keeps itching for a couple days. hate those things.

I had the same after brushing against my fox face.
