I am "Scrubbling" (scrubbing microbubbles) twice per week, for four hours each time; after lights out.

I am also using a small amount of flocculant with each water change.

I got to thinking: Am I robbing my corals by basically sterilizing the water column?
I am removing all "floaties" which they may be using for filter food (ReefRoids, meaty supernatant).

I don't Scrubble on the same days I feed. My filter floss is loaded and dark the morning after Scrubbling and my water is Crazy-Clear.

Any Thoughts?

I would just judge it by how the corals look... if they look happy and full then they are getting all they need, so no need to change things up.

Which corals? It matters. Some might be able to catch some of that while others have nearly no chance. Unless they are NPS, they do not NEED to catch any of this if you have adequate light... but again, type matters.

I have some OCD friends that do this , IMHO if it floats your boat and you cant stand detritus or whatever go for it. But yes you are turning your whole tank into a skimmer, and all that stuff you remove is food for the corals , it seems your gut already told you the answer , or you wouldnt have posted it , go with your gut . Personally I think its insane and can damage some kinds of corals that HATE air and bubbles, also throws off the balance artificialitypumping in that much air , have you tested your ph before and after ?
