hello all,

I set up my 50 cube in January.
It’s an sca 50 (24x24x20) with deltec 1455 skimmer, Radion xr15 hanging about 11 inches from the water, and an mp40 on one side. About 35 pounds of dead rock , and 1/4 inch of sand. Plan on doing weekly 10 gallon water changes (20 percent), and testing all and cal every other day to figure out consumption, and manually dosing two part.

Filtration is 200 micron sock, bleached and rotated once a week during water change, deltec 1455 skimmer, 25 watt U.V. light, and plan on running chemi pure elite , changed every 2 months.

Could I be missing anything? Can’t afford an apex or dosing pumps at the moment,’I do have an mr reactor shorty if need be for gfo.

Thanks I’m advance

Looks like youre all set to start the cycle if you haven't already!! in fact i would start the cycle, figure out the lighting spectrum and schedule you want, as well as leave the skimmer off during the cycle to ensure proper cycling of the tank then you should be ready to add fish and later on coral! Patience is key in the hobby! you also don't need anything fancy like an apex or dosing pumps! You can figure out if you need that stuff later on when you decide on the type of coral and livestock you will want in the tank! for now it sounds good, good luck!

Lol tanks been running since January, has had fish in it the past month

Only things I would change is not run the UV and Chemi Pure, no need for either all the time. Good to use when needed but with care. You may also need another XR15 for coverage.

I second these suggestions. I wouldn’t use the UV or chemipure unless needed. You run the risk of stripping the water too clean and causing a bacterial bloom. If you want to play it safe upfront I think a chaeto reactor or chaeto in your refugium if you have one is the safer choice. And I think the second XR15 for coverage and then just reducing overall intensity would be ideal as well. :)
