Am I setting up my quarantine tank right?

This is my first time doing the so everything will probably be wrong that I’m saying but from what I’ve seen this is what I’m planning on doing. So what I was going to do is get an old filter I have and put one of my filter pads from my main tank in it so it insta cycles. The tank is an only a 10 gallon and the only spare heater I have is 200 watts is this bad to do? Then I was going monitor the fish for a day and see if theres anything wrong with it then I was going to dose with copper for 2 weeks then i was going dose the tank with prazi pro or metroplex (which is better in your guys opinion) for a week or two then after that if everything’s good put the fish in the main tank.

2 weeks isn't long enough for copper unless you mean to dose prazi/metro with copper (and continue copper for 30 days)... I would do the meds separate unless the fish actually needs more then one.

I would also buy an appropriate size heater. Heaters are not expensive. A failed one or one that isn't calibrated well may kill your fish if it is oversized.

General cure contains both prazi/metro. If you do just one, I would do prazi.

You will need an airstone and a couple of small PVC pipes for the fish to hide in. Make sure to be a (non API) copper test kit also. Agree on the heater comment above - get one sized for your tank.

You can’t remove copper after 14 days from the same tank. Some people do 14 days and move the fish a brand new sterile tank with new everything and observe for a month because it is not as fool proof as 30 days so you must observe. Realize the risks but it’s good info if you have a fish truly not tolerating copper. But you need a second set up.

Copper is a toxic substance. I would shell out the extra $$ for the Hannah.

It should help. I generally just set up my QT tanks with biospira.

Make sure the pad you are using goes not contain carbon. It should just be a plain sponge or bioballs or such.

Personally, unless you are going to use a copper test kit a whole lot, I would not invest in Hanna Copper test kit.
