Does anybody else go through cycles of interest in your tank? I will go weeks where I am super fascinated about everything in my tank and the sump and I will fiddle with the equipment and cords and look at all manor of gunk under the microscope. I will test weekly and keep my logs up to date. And then for no apparent reason for weeks I will just not care that much. I will still feed it and make sure everyone eats. I will scrub the glass when it gets hard to see and do my water changes like clockwork but it's all on autopilot. And then, again for no apparent reason, I will get completely hooked again, like now. My husband says it is my obsessive nature. I am really hoping I am not the only one.

I understand. Sometimes I’ll get really into a specific tank, then kinda stop focusing on it and begin really working on another. Always one at the front of my worry list, usually because something is wrong.
I still put all the work into them, just what is or isn’t the center of attention.

I always ask myself “why am I doing this?”

If I can’t answer the question, I usually stop or reevaluate the thing.

I ran a tank from 2004-2009. (Inexperience)

more recently 2014 - present. (Less inexperience)

i like watching things grow is my current answer to the question.

Maybe, for the burnout phase, seek help!
I'm being serious. You can sometimes get away with it. Some corals and fish need special care.
But, there's a lot of things we have this day and age for that. Automatic water changes, supplements.

People who leave generally return.
Its an addiction like no other
