Hey everyone, so Im looking into a tuxedo urchin to help with my GHA as well as I just ferkin love urchins.

tested today and my nitrates are barley showing up. Salifert said "0.2". My hanna checker for phos said "0.12"

I know urchins are sensitive to nitrate spikes, I am just curious if as my urchin starts eating GHA if the nitrates will spike enough to kill the urchin.

I only have a clown right now in my tank as I sold my CuC as I thought I was going to be moving (which fell through) as well as any corals I have or plan to get are softies so Im not worried about urchin wrecking balls.

Ty for your time!!

You sure nitrates are at .2 ppm and not at 2ppm. Keep an eye on them so they don't get to zero.
Having said that my urchin hasn't cared about nitrates. Over 20 ppm

I mean the fluid was so clear the two times I did it but I could've sworn I saw a SHADE of pink through the side not looking straight down. I'm used to like 5 to 10 but the algae be algae-in.
it's very possible it IS at 0.

I've had an urchin and shrimp in nitrates of 60ppm. But it got that high slowly. I wouldn't add any new inverts to a tank with nitrates that high.
