I have to share my awesome experience with Tunze.
Background: I have three Tunze 3155 ATOs. They’re awesome- set and forget. I’ve tried other brands, such as apex ATK and auto aqua, and they didn’t compare.
Anyway, one day a 3155 controller didn’t turn on after a water change- it just started beeping. First of all, that’s an excellent design to notify the user of failure. I didn’t have to see much return pump shooting bubbles.
It was under warranty period, so I sent it to Tunze on Monday using USPS 2 day mail. Roger emailed me on Thursday, saying that there was water damage in the power port, which is user damage and not covered by warranty. I must have gotten the plug wet with salt water and plugged it in. But he still did the repair, replacing the connector, which fixed it!!
So:
1. The turnaround time was fantastic
2. They really open up the units to diagnose the issues, instead of just replacing. IMO, that speaks to the quality of the ATOs.
3. Roger did a not-warranty repair for me, despite it being user damage.
4. Without mentioning it, he also replaced the cracked tube connector!
So, thanks roger! I am thrilled to be a Tunze customer. I use them on all my tanks and will happily continue to do so!
Here is how I use them- I 3D print stands and then have an apex optical sensor to alert me if the reservoir is low
