amazing new scolly i picked up!

I just picked this scoly up yesterday, and it is already one of my favorites! I was on my way out of the store when this caught my eye. I was jjust getting my sump planned out for my 225 and I had no intention of getting any new coral but I could not pass this deal up. The guy said it had been stung by another piece of coral but had been recovering good. I fed it last night, and it took no time to eat the krill I gave it.

Thanks everyone! This is my first Scoly. But I am very happy with it so far. Does anyone have an idea of what it is worth when fully healed, just curious of how good of a deal I got. The pics were taken then night I got it home, so it has been looking better since then.

I paid $150 for it, I figured once it is fully recovered it has got to be worth more than that with the color combo it has. Either way I have no intention on getting rid of anytime soon!
no problem with the fact it has some tissue loss, it already looks ggood and healthy in my tank.

Really?? That is quite expensive(no offense). I passed up those rainbow colored ones from my wholesale buddy for less than that, although he really spoiles me.. He knows I am not into named corals and said he's gonna get my tank full of named stuff lol. He tries selling me those LE, Tyree, and JF stuff all the freakin time for like 5 or 10 bucks over wholesale. Kinda wish he'd get the hint.... Just a simple person not really looking for that stuff

Not all of us hobbyist get the wholesale hook up btw, or else there would be no point in LFS...

I don't think $150 is a great price, but it is market price. Most I have seen start out selling for around $225, if it dosn't sell quick price drops to $180, if it sits around longer down to $150 and have never seen the price go lower than that.

Ohh please don't get me wrong, was not trying to be mean in any way. Just never really seen what some of these things are actually going for. doctor foster's and smith always says their prices are firm but that is not always true. I never pay sticker price because I know what the markup is and realize they have overhead, electric, employees but theres always wiggle room, kinda like used cars It is a really nice coral don't get me wrong please. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, sorry.

From what I see in the market I think a similar piece healed up would run 300-400 no problem.

My LFS is selling one very similar for 400 but I'm sure it will sell for 350-370

Watch it carefully as they are picky with placement. I don't run mine under intense light and moderate flow. They also like darkness when the lights are out. I'm not able to run moonlights on my tank because the feeder tentacles don't come out.
