Amazon Pricing Error on Brightwell AminOmega

They have been having some good deals on Brightwell. I bought a few bottles of Microbacter Clean for under $5 last week.

It seems like brands go directly to consumers on Amazon now with overstock sometimes. At points you can get Carib sea rock for $1/lb cad with free shipping lol. Might take a month but in the summer I got 80lbs for $86 taxes in and shipped free. I have seen a couple other examples of this recently to with additives and a couple hard goods. It’s good for the hobbyist but it really screws all of their retailers by selling it for under the wholesale price. Probably worthwhile to check any brands store you use on Amazon from time to time and see if you can snag any good deals.

I'd imagine its like selcon and other similar products in terms of shelf life (maybe those mention it?)

Jay just mentioned that a product like Selcon needs to be on dry ice and only good for 4 months once opened... even tho it does not have an expiration date. So Selcon is kind of a waste, I don't see retailers keeping it in dry ice :p and I bet people keep using it past 4 months. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/grey-patch-on-side-of-yellow-tang.944309/#post-10715596

Learn something new every day.

I was wondering if stocking up on this is a similar waste. $3 is good on paper but buying a ton at $3 isn't if it doesn't last in storage long enough and you keep using it unknowning that it's basically not helpful anymore.

That being said, I don't believe this is the same as selcon.

I am curious what part of selcon expires that fast. This product I have used before and is basically selcon minus the vitamins from my understanding.

It's interesting - it seems like the price of this product is all over the place - BRS has it for $7 - another place for $15 - for the 125 ml size. Others for even higher. Perhaps they are overstocked and it's not an error. I'm curious - what are you using it for?
I use it as a food additive for my FOWLR tank. I use AminOmega and Vitamin-M which is basically Selcon+.

still avail if you click "New - (3) from" or whatever on the side below the reg price. still is shipping and sold by amazon..

* just to be clear, was/is still at the $3.96 price... if you look below the, now, $10 at top..
It looks like Amazon is doing their activity-based pricing and not it has going up. I should have bought some more when I had the chance.

The product Selco says this (this is a DRY product I believe so should have a longer shelf life then SelcoN):

STORAGE/SHELF LIFE The product should be stored in a cool, dry place (max. 10°C). Once opened, it should be used within one month, kept well closed when not used and stored in a refrigerator. Do not freeze. The shelf life is 18 months from date of manufacturing.

I know that doesn't answer your question but does make me raise an eyebrow for the times I bought Selcon :p

They arrived 125ML $4 each. Thank you Amazon!!!!!

I use this stuff in my DIY fish food. I just ordered 2 bottles for $10. Its still a really good deal.

What are the ingredients for your DIY fish food?
I half heartedly followed BRS’ recipe.

The following makes up the base

squid rings
Salmon
White fish
Shrimp

then I added a bunch of stuff to that.

package of TDO pellets
Package of seaweed pellets
A whole bag of nori
A bottle of selcon
A bottle of AminOmega
Rotifers
A bottle of spirulina powder
A bottle of paracoccus powder
Calanus

And I think that’s it. Basically added what I wanted to the base. My fish love it, and one batch should last me 7-8 months.

Actually I know I got a few things wrong or missed a few things. Check out pg5 of my 80gal build thread. It’s got a complete list of ingredients.

I saw this two days ago and thought they would have corrected it by now but they still have not so I thought I would share it with the community. I bought 5 because I wasn't sure how long they lasted. I wish I bought 12 given the price mistate. These should be $16 per bottle.

Still waiting on my two bottles . Should be here by 12/23 LOL

Buy first ask questions later....lol

So what did I just buy? Amino and Omega vitamins for my fish?

Does everyone else’s kinda of a white milky look and make the tank cloudy but it cleared up within an hour.

I am able to add 30 in my cart, I guess Amazon is playing that low stock “game”

I saw it was only like 12 left like an hour ago but now it’s up to 30
