Because of my work schedule, I plan on having an abnormal lighting period. Something along the lines of turning on around 12p-2pm and ramping up, then shut off around 12a-2a. Something like that. Will this be unhealthy for fish/corals to have a relatively short blackout period because of ambient lighting? Curtains can only block so much you know.

Also, if I happen to drastically change the lighting period at some point later in the tank life, will that have any negative effects?

Coral need 10-12 hours of good lighting and uv

I have 2x AP9X. I know corals need good lighting.

I am concerned that approx 6hrs of darkness will have an ill effect on them compared to the 'natural' 12ish hrs. Furthermore, will this be unhealthy to fish not having a long enough night cycle?

Fish should be fine and coral with 6 hours of darkness will also be fine
