what is the right/safe way to ensure that our ammonia alert badges are parasite free between QTs? I am aware that Seachem says they cannot be dried out and must be stored in water between uses. Actually I have the same question about ph probes as well since they cannot dry out.

Well...they are dry in the package when you buy them. I have let mine dry out between transfers and they seem to work just fine. (Only use RODI water to rinse.) It just may take several hours until they become rehydrated. Following several transfer cycles I’ve seen a hint of ammonia indicated, confirmed by another test kit, so I know they are sufficiently sensitive.
