Ammonia in my QT

I have 7 fish in my quarantine tank due to an ich attack. I have been doing water change ever 2 days but I notice that the ich is gone but my fish are barely swimming. I measured ammonia level and it is present in my tank between 0.25 and 0.5 . Do you have any advice to reduce the ammonia level? The QT is 20 gallon.

Get some seachem prime from your LFS or petco\petsmart. 7 fish is quite a large bioload for a 20g.

Yeah, this would be the better option. Prime is just a band aid.

Why not? I put some prime and the cupramine is there. ;Nailbiting

Get some macroalgae in there, it will consume ammonia. Also add some instant cycle bacteria. Maybe some sand from the tank.

Sand from the tank would be a bad idea if the OP is battling an ich outbreak. He would be reintroducing tomonts to his QT and undoing all of his hard work, along with risking his fish.

Thats a last resort imo, bottled bacteria and ammonia neutralizer is his best bet.

I did a 100% water change and added a bottle of bacteria.

Id still add some amquel or seachem prime because it takes time for the bacteria to consume ammonia.
