First time using a QT Tank. It is a Fluval Evo 13 gallon AIO. I placed 2 bags of cycled ceramic rings from my DT in 2 of the rear chambers. The media has been cycled for 5-6 months. I put 2 fish in the QT on Saturday. Last night the Ammonia was roughly 1 PPM. I did a 50 % water change right away but it is still at .5 PPM as I was only able to change 6 gallons at the time. I added some Prime to neutralize any harmful ammonia. the 2 fish in QT are a Kole Tang and Cleaner Wrasse. They both look great and are eating good. Maybe too good. I removed the nori sheet hanging there. Hopefully the spike was from having nori in the tank 24/7. If the ammonia stays high I will be forced to place them in the DT. Anything else I should try??

I'm dealing with the same issue. I have 3 Anthias in QT, and got an ammonia spike to .5ppm, and did a very large water change with no reduction.

Hopefully others will chime in with some advice!

My QT has no biological filter at all.
Since my QT’s don’t last more than 2 weeks, I change 10% of water per day, and vacuum up any uneaten food, I have had no detectable ammonia.

Already moved them to the DT and crossing fingers. They looked heathy and were eating up a storm and exploring within minutes in the DT.

Almost a week and the 2 new additions are doing great.
