So I confirmed I have ammonia in the QT. between .5-1 on my api.

I added some prime and the tank seemed to get immediately stressed. Flashing all around. Powder brown is doing laps and swimming into the power head. I have a air stone in there. Are there issues with prime and oxygen levels? Or am I just noticing symptoms of ammonia or nitrite toxicity? I see no spot but I'm sure the stress will cause sometching to pop up

At this point am I better to add fresh mixed water or would water from my DT be a better option? I've been running the same carbon in my DT for a few weeks now. Could I place that carbon in a bag to put in my QT filter for added beneficial bacteria?

Swimming into the flow of a PH sounds like your PBT has velvet. But you can't mix copper with Prime (or any ammonia reducer). Do you have CP? If not, you need to do a LARGE WC on the QT and start dosing copper.

I do have CP on hand. I did a 50% wc earlier to knock the ammonia back. I'll be doing another tonight at 50%. With no visable symptoms do you think it will be safe to raise the level slowly over a few days?

If you have CP, no need to raise slowly. Dose @ 60mg/gal.

You'll also need to pickup one of these to take over monitoring ammonia after you dose CP:

Just so I'm certain, CP refers to Copper correct? (I'll be using Copper Power)

I have the alert badge in there. I used api to confirm the reading as I've never had Dr tims fail to cycle a new tank. On closers inspection I am seeing spots now, also dark spot that I'm guessing are old cysts.

Ah thank you for the clearing that up! Unfortunately I do not have that on hand.

I just completed my second 50% water change for the day so I think I should be in okay shape.

Thanks for all the help. I'll start dosing copper tonight.
