I have been feeding a bit heavy to get my fish in quarantine up to snuff, but I know I'm pushing the limits of the biofilter. It's a 40 breeder with an aquaclear 70 with sponges filters that have been active for over a month, but the water is cloudy so I've been doing 50 percent water changes daily while I get every one eating black worms, brine shrimp an mysis.

My question is when I start prazipro/metrodozanol (api general cure) I won't want to do a water change for a few days, so besides cutting back feeding a but, can I use ammonia remover? I have an ammonia badge and everything looks good, but if the meds kill the bacteria filter temporarily, I want to know my options.

Thanks in advance!

Copper is a definite no-no, but some have mixed an ammonia reducer with prazi & other medications without incident. Others have tried it and woken up to a QT full of dead fish. IMHO; its not worth the risk finding out which scenario will happen. So, I wouldn't do it.

Thanks, I dosed a very small amount today, so I'll be sure to do a bunch of water changes before starting any meds. I realized that I can do water changes and add back some medication to the makeup water to keep the dosage stable.

Thanks!

I agree that it's not worth the risk. I would just rely on water changes as frequent as needed.
