Ammonia spike question

After setting up and cycling my 40 breeder added some fish and had a raise in ammonia my question is for a quick fix will adding beneficial bacteria ( very old nasty media bag ) from my other tank help reduce things in my new tank not my first rodeo but I am also freaking out lol have 10 crab 10 snails coral beauty 2 allardis and hawk fish Gradually added dosed tank with fritz turbo start waited 2 weeks before adding fish

It may help some, but using something like Prime would be better. The larger question would be why isn't your filtration keeping up with the bio-load?

Because I’m using a hob more then likely. But even then it should be fine and handle the load easily. Using prime is pretty much a thread tripper ? I’ve heard mixed things on is. It’s a temp fix ? Will it inner fear with any kind of cycle I have (using dry rock and live sand)

Yes, Prime is a short term fix to keep your fish healthy. Assuming your tank was already cycled before adding livestock, it shouldn't hurt unless you over do it.

I’m just going to add some brightwell microbacter that should definitely eliminate the issue
