Is that a cheap ro/di system you bought on Amazon? That may be the problem. You may need to replace your membrane on the ro/di system. If it is a cheap Amazon system I'd try and invest in a better quality system. Test your well water to see if it has a high amount of iron or other metals in it. I used to live in a rural area and the well water had a very metallic smell before running it through our filtration system. Just a thought.

Not sure what they usually cost but i dint buy it on amazon i bought it from a fish store for about 300 dollars i think it had 5 years gurante so i might look in to that

I know in the US our water is often treated with chloramine. It breaks down into ammonia. It relies on a robust carbon filter to get it out of the water.

Hopefully it is a bad test kit!

Is the tank cycled? If not it probably needs time to cycle. To prevent any harm to the fish I would add one of those bacteria bottles that instantly cycle the aquarium. Make sure you are doing 10% water changes once a week
