Hi: Need help / advise soon I have a bare bottom quarantine tank with one yellow watchman goby, and one starry blenny in it. There is one live rock. It has been functioning for 3 weeks I removed the filter main pad. I missed the smaller pad in an aqeuon hang on the back. I was overfeeding trying to find what they would respond to. I tried pellet's misis shrimp then marine flakes. I was grossly overfeeding. I have been doing small water changes every three days ( 4 litters ). For the last 3 8 liters sometimes three in a row. I cannot lower the ammonia down past .5 ppm. I am using an API kit it is within expiry date. Please Advise #reefsquad

If changing out more water does not help then get another test kit.

Prime binds ammonia. Makes it inactive, (not harmful) . This only last for a few days then releases it. It gives you a chance to change out water to reduce the ammonia or for your filter bacteria to change it into nitrate.
