Reef2reef helped diagnose my fish with velvet and I started treating on June 17 with chloroquine phosphate in a small QT (it’s all I have)
Anyways, I have no type of filter or anything on it, just some flow and air running in it.
I checked the ammonia yesterday it was around 5 ppms so I put in some prime and now it’s half that but the fish are a little lethargic now. How long do they need to be treated with CP?
I know my DT needs to be fallow for some time, I plan on putting them back in the DT September 5th
I would like to start adding filters ASAP or something to get the ammonia down. I don’t have any CP at the moment so if I need to do a wc then I’ll have to do it tomorrow

I would change the water right away and add some bacteria like Dr. Tim’s One and Only. Sounds like the QT isn’t cycled. Do a 100% water change if you have to. IMO Prime won’t be enough to save your fish with that much ammonia. In the future you can buy a sponge filter to keep in your other tank so you have beneficial bacteria ready. Tank water from your other tank won’t be enough. This is an emergency for your fish. I hope they pull through!

Agree with glb. I’d do a 90% wc ASAP. I believe cp treatment is 30 days.

The QT was cycled as it was originally a damsel tank but removed sand and rock and the carbon filter. I do not have a rodi at home but I was able to get 8 gallons from LFS so about a 50% water change. Everyone looks happier already, like it was almost immediate. I added some filter floss so hopefully that will capture leftover foods and poops. I’m wondering if I should add enough prime for the 8 gallons.
Also side question/experience: I have a 3 striped damsel that changes from dark grey to bright white and black depending on lighting. When I was doing the water change I also cleaned out the hob breeder where he’s place and he jumped out into a cup of Dr Pepper and turned blue?! He’s back to normal now. He was in there for 20 seconds tops because i immediately poured it out and dropped him into the big of new water. I’m wondering if should look out for anything?

I’m not a prime user so hopefully someone will chime in. However I would get an ammonia badge and be ready for another large wc soon. I think your damsel will be fine. Not sure how the Dr. Pepper will taste
