I'm looking for a controllable way to raise my nitrates in my sps tank. Met a interesting lfs owner last year when I was out of town. Ironically, at the time I was experiencing the complete opposite problem I am facing now. I had high NO3. This strange fellow was telling me about carbon dosing via vodka to strip my nitrates from the tank. He proceeded to tell me about his "love potion" which is Ammonium Chloride (NH4Cl) to add nitrates back to the aquarium . I purchased a bottle from him, went home and read up on carbon dosing. Blah Blah Blah
Today, in my sps dominate tank, I am Experiencing no detectable NO3 level. My corals are not coloring. They are growing great, just losing color. Is NH4Cl a good way to add Nitrates? I still have this full bottle of "love potion"! Ive been trying with fuel and oyster feast...
parameters
salinity 1.025
alk 7.8 dkh
cal 440 ppm
mag 1340 ppm
PO4 .02 ppm
NO3 00 ppm
Tank is 13 months old
Thanks in advance!
