I have a nuvo 40 gallon and i would like to know how much flow is necessary to keep soft corals like zoas

I used 2x nano koralia pumps in my tank. I think each rated for 500gph along with return pump itself.

Rule of thumb is go for 20x water volume in flow minimum. SPS tanks require much stronger flow, but most softies like things slower. So for 40g I would get pumps to equal 800gph. Two Koralia Hydor 565 pumps would be perfect. They are AC and have no control without a wavemaker, but they are cheap. I'm not 100% but I think they have a new DC pump available with a built in controller. I'm not sure on the flow rates for the DCs.

I have an all in one which uses a 476 gph pump for the return would it be ok if I got a hydor 425 for softies and maybe one or two lps

It's a nuvo 40

For softies? I reccomend probably 800 minimum to keep them happy. Not necessary though. I guarantee you will eventually want LPS and SPS so at the point I would guesstimate somewhere around 1500-2000GPH total.

Is it really that large of a gap also I think I want lps in the future would it be better to just get a another one later on also I'm not sure how to place them for the best flow
