Anyone cultering amphipods? Im doing quite well with copepods at the moment so thought I would give it a go at amphipods. I have just ordered 12 x 90 ml bags (saltwater) amphipod adults, some will go straight into my aquriam for my mandarin others I'm thinking to try to breed/ culture.
I have read using old filter media/ wool/ socks is a great food source so I can swap mine for new no problems.
Anything else I should consider
Thanks

Old sponges and filter floss would probably work, but I have found that they gravitate more towards clinging to macroalgae (Ulva and Chaetomorpha should work well) and burrowing in the sandbed in my tank. Feeding probably shouldn't be an issue as they are scavengers (algae wafers and sinking pellets would work great with these guys). Indo-Pacific Sea Farms also recommends good aeration and subdued lighting.
Breeding freshwater amphipods:

I have heard some anecdotal evidence that adult amphipods are too large for mandarins to consume, but I cannot confirm this as I do not own these fish.

My mandarin won't eat the amphipod. The mouth of the mandarin is very small
