Hello there,

I've recently set up my first saltwater tank and got some cheap liverock from ebay. I've noticed in one of the holes some antennae sticking out, and now I'm wondering if it's some kind of mantis shrimp or an amphipod. I would be extremely happy actually if it was a mantis shrimp because they're kind of hard to get in europe, especially the smaller variants.

Anyone know if Amphipods usually hide in a hole like this?
Pics aren't the best quality, I will get a small magnifiying glas in the next days, I'll see if I can take better ones.
The hole is around 3-4mm across

I can’t see the video on my phone but it doesn’t look like either in the photo.

Some worms have antenna and that doesn’t mean it is automatically a bobbit before someone says that. Lol lots of worms related to the bobbit that look similar.

huh, seems it vanished deeper into the hole, no idea if there are any other entrances.

Ok it's sadly not a mantis shrimp, its def an amphipod :crying-face:
There's the hope that it's not the same critter, but I don't have anything other than copepods in my tank
case closed i guess ;__;

Definitely an amphipod
Not the worst thing, they are good for tanks, and a mantis is cool but not something I’d want hitchhiking in.
