I have seen these little critters crawling on my live rock and sand past 2 days. I don't have any fish or coral in my tank yet. Just some snails and hermits and a diatom bloom . The tank is only 2 months old. I have about 60 lbs of live rock. I think it's an amphipod but wanted to make sure.

:) That saves me some time, they started their own population!! Should I still add some?
You shouldn't have to, unless you have a wrasse or a mandarin that is a little piggie :)

You can add some copepods for diversity.
As flippers said you can add pods for diversity and there really is no con for them. They are part of your clean up crew and you might wanted a wrasse or mandarin later on so its good to have a established population

I planned on a wrasse so I wanted a good population. Does anything else eat them? I am on the fence about a mandarin. I've read they are very difficult to keep alive and I don't want to kill something with my inexperience.
