Since I have the time now and hopefully enough food and my bicinctus were kind enough to put their eggs on a rock I could take out I decided to give it a shot on raising a few babies. Only about a quarter hatched since I took the rock out too late and exposed the nest to brighter light, but that should be enough for now.

Here a video of the larvae on the morning of their first day. Feeds are Bracionus and Apocyclops panamensis:

The parents (male in the front) with the remaining eggs (left top corner of video):

The parents put nest #24 down before nest #23 had fully hatched. They changed location since they realized the other rock could be taken out (I got news for them: I can take this one out as well):

The larvae on the evening of the 2. day. Feeds are Brachionus and Artemia.

The larvae in the afternoon of the 3. day. Feeds are Brachionus and Artemia.

Nice work! Can you describe how you culture your rotifers? I struggle to keep a population going without crashing at some point.

Here is where I describe how I culture my rotifers

Day 9:

Today, in addition to the usual few day old brine shrimp nauplii, I fed some Tigriopus but not sure if they took any.
Brachionus is becoming a problem as they no longer go after it but it still continues to multiply since I have to add a bit green water daily for the brine shrimp.
In a few days, I plan on adding 2 BTA to see when the larvae actually settle.

Day 10:

Next nest may hatch tonight but I'm not sure if I take them out to raise or rather let them go this time. I want to concentrate on the Marine Betta and am not sure I will have enough food for both.
Also, what to do with 500 or more bicinctus? It's not really a fish that flies off the shelves...

Thank you for sharing this journey with us!

Day 13:
I replaced air tube bubbler with a hang-on filter, did an 80% water-change, and added an anemone to see when they settle. The anemone is a clone of the same anemone the parents are in so the chemical signature should be identical.

This is a great thread. I LOVE my Spotcinctus clowns. I wish I had somewhere to put some of these!! Keep the updates coming!

That's awesome - very nice pair! My Clarkiis started about 2 months ago and have been laying a nest every 10 days like clockwork.
