I have ampipods and rotifers coming today and it's the first time that I've bought rotifers and I was wondering how you go about putting the rotifers in the tank and I have to work tonight so if I can't put the stuff in tonight what should I do to store them until I can put them both in the tank?? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

IMO, Its fine to add some tonight (esp the pods), and then finish the rest in the morning. Ill assume its not hot or too cold in the house so they could sit out overnight.

I don't have a sump but I have a cpr aguafuge 2 refugium and I always add to both the tank and the refugium and the fish have to be sleeping and everything and I have to work tonight after working lastnight and then today because I have 2 jobs so I'm about to soon take a nap once I get the order here and if I put them in the tank tonight I would have to turn all the flow and everything off for and hour and I really don't have time to do it tonight and they shipped them 2 days ago so I don't know what to do that's all and in the way of the rotifers do you just dump them all in the tank or what because I never have gotten them before or do you feed some and refrigerate them until you feed them all because I bought 3 quarts of those and rotifood for them

It's around 72 degrees in my house right now but it will cool down later though

feed and refrigerate I believe. for longer term I believe you need to create flow, similar to culturing them.
I dont think you need to turn anything off. I dont. you actually want flow with the rotifers so they get eaten by the corals.

I thought that you had to turn pumps and flow off is what I've always been told so you don't have to turn the skimmer or filters or pumps off at all for them

IMO generally no. I suppose the skimmer could get some but I would doubt it. Maybe it gives them a head start on hiding but Ive not seen it. and rotifers numbers are in the millions as you put them in the tank.

Ok thanks and is 3 quarts alot of rotifers when just buying them to feed them and will they reproduce in my refugium since there's flow in there plus macroalgae and everything or they won't and how much should you put in your tank at a time of the rotifers

it is a lot I think, but its kinda dependent on concentration too. Id add some see how thick they go in and judge from there. Ideally Id want to buy them probably a month at a time. I think that's how long the last in the fridge.

Do you just dump them in the tank or what or do you pour them into a fine net to get all the liquid stuff out before feeding them just like live brine shrimp
